SONG #42 - Linkin Park - CASTLE OF GLASS
Since the last time I inducted a Linkin Park song in 2015, lead singer Chester Bennington passed away (in 2017). It hurts to think about it. Linkin Park consistently put out songs I loved, and Chester was in my top 5 singers of all time. It hurts. I was introduced to this song by my friend Matt Koch, who I believe did a devotion on this song at a Peace Lock-in a long time ago. I hadn't heard their new album and was just drawn in by the incredible hook of this song. What really captured my heart was actually the music video, which I will link to. This may be in my top 10 of favorite videos. I love the message of the power of being there for someone which inspires that person to be there for someone else.
Elements of this song that I love are the driving beat, Chester's voice, the guitar, the lyric "I'm only a crack in this castle of glass..", and when the beat/music drops away and Chester sings the refrain with just a little synth in the background. I don't have many memories, other than the lock-in, and listening to this song in the "safety" of my office as I struggled with ministry.
